The good: Located right by several Metro stops, very convenient to reach anywhere in the city. The room was a nice size, the bed was pretty comfortable. Furnishings were in great shape. The staff was friendly and helpful. They knew to answer in English when I called and there was always someone there who spoke English well. There was a beautiful courtyard that is probably gorgeous in the Spring and Summer (I was there at the end of Winter.) Free safe in the room, easy to operate. Lots of restaurants and cafes nearby, even three grocery stores, all at reasonable prices. Neighborhood was safer than most, not as touristy. Refrigerator and microwave. The bad: The room was always cold, I could only turn the thermostat up so far and then it wouldn't go anymore. The blankets provided helped when I was in bed, but one does eventually have to get out of bed. The beautiful courtyard has cobblestones and luggage rolling over it makes an awful racket. The windows don't keep out much sound, so the noise of people outside talking comes right into the room. Not so bad in the Winter, but I can see that being a problem in warmer weather. The housekeeper left wine and old cheese from a previous inhabitant in the tiny fridge, I had to ask to have it removed after two days and realizing that it wasn't part of the mini-bar. No dishes, pots, pans, etc for "kitchenette." Plan to only get small amounts of food to nuke. Who wants to cook on vacation anyway, right? They don't provide face/wash cloths. If you use these to wash your face or body, you'd better bring your own. "Assisting with planning excursions" service they advertise is limited to showing you how to get somewhere by metro on free maps provided by Printemps, a local department store. These maps are difficult to follow and the staff kept showing me round-about ways to get to where I needed to go. Better to get a pocket map from the Metro station and plan for yourself. The Metro is very easy to learn. Overall: I was happy there, especially since I really just wanted a safe place to leave my stuff and sleep at night. I would definitely stay there again and felt I got my money's worth.

We had a great vacation. My family stayed in triple room (there are quad rooms available as well). The beds were very comfortable and the room included a microwave, mini stove, mini dishwasher and mini fridge! The metro station was less than one block away. Many staff members speak English. The only con: second hand smoke. We don't smoke, but guests in the neighboring room did and we could smell it. The free internet service is inconsistent - you can upgrade for a daily fee for more reliable service.

Very nice hotel in the 11th district just a 10 minute walk to the Bastille and a 20 minute walk to Notre Dame. When you arrive the Hotel will appear very small from the front but once you pass the concierge desk and exit into the courtyard it totally opens up into 5-6 buildings all surrounding the large courtyard. Rooms are small by U.S. standards but if you've traveled to Europe before you'll understand this is the norm. They were clean, what appeared to be recently and nicely decorated. Besides remember you'll basically only be sleeping there as Paris is very much a city to be enjoyed on foot! Staff were polite, very helpful, and spoke English well. Two Metros, #8 lavender line (St. Sebastien Froissart) is less than a 50 yard walk and the #5 orange line (Richard Lenoir) is about a 4-5 block walk will with a maximum of one connection get you to most of the areas you want to see in Paris. Internet access is available but the standard one is slow although I believe they offered a faster one at an upcharge. Would definitely return to this hotel.

I reserved a room at Les Jardins du Marais after searching for weeks for a nice hotel with a fitness center in the Marais district. From the web site and comments, it seemed like a decent place to stay with professional staff. I checked into the hotel on the scheduled date of arrival, at 8:30 in the morning and left my bags while I went out for the day. When I returned to the hotel that night, I was told that the room I had reserved and paid for in full, was no longer available. This was after I had already checked into the hotel. There is no excuse for this. When customers reserve and pay for their rooms that hotel is obligated to honor that booking. I don't care if other guests want to extend their stay--if they have no free rooms, they shouldn't arbitrarily cancel other guests ' bookings in order to give priority to guests who have not reserved rooms already. Clearly reservations, even those paid in advance, are not honored or guaranteed at this hotel.

On the 18/05/2011, our hotel room was robbed, the adress of the hotel is 74, rue Amelot-75011 Paris, hotel “LES JARDIN DU MARAIS”, 4 STARS! When we returned from the town and checked the safe - it was open, the money was gone. Totally 1000 $ and 400 Euros. We called the receptionist and filled out the declaration, but stuff of the hotel refused to call the police and told that the manager, who is responsible for those issues will be in the hotel just on the nex day at 9 a.m. We also asked the stuff to check who entered our room during the day and at what time – but they also refused. We went to the police station and declared statement of claim. The next day we finally found main manager, but he told us that the hotel is not responsible for it, that they can do nothing and that we cannot even prove that we had the money!!!!!! NEVER STAY AT THE HOTEL ““LES JARDIN DU MARAIS”” 74, rue Amelot-75011 Paris
