This was our first stay in Jamaica and it was VERY nice. The hotel was well kept and had a slight rustic feel to it. Everything was all-inclusive and the food was excellent. The resort had MANY activities that were included with the stay, including snorkeling, scuba, and catamaran cruise. The staff was very nice and the housekeeping was excellent. We were looking for a stay with a "tropical" feel to it and we definitely got that from this stay. The only thing of note is that if you want to leave the resort, Jamaica is a poor country. Outside the resort is a totally different world and be prepared for it. The roads after Negril are VERY bad and I would highly recommend using excursion services if you want to get off the resort. I didn't fear for my safety during my stay or excursions there however. Overall, a great experience and I wouldn't hesitate to go back. If you are looking for nothing but pampering and expansive food selections, this probably isn't the place for you, I'd say Cancun. However, if you want the tropical feel and plenty of activities, booze and a good time, Couples Negril fit the bill nicely.

Couples negril is one of the best couples resort we have ever stayed at! The service was amazing and made our stay unbelievable.. the staff made you feel as if you were the only ones there and the food is impeccable. It rained everyday we were there for about an hour but the sun dried it out and then we were back at the beach but other than that the view is gorgeous! I would highly recommend this resort! If you don't like nature and being outside I would not recommend this resort. We had sugar ants from time to time but it wasn't that crucial.

We just returned from Couples Negril. We were there from June 2-9. We loved the location, the size of the resort, the food, the ocean and beach, the people who work there. It was a GREAT vacation! Will definitely return and highly recommend! Couples Negril is large enough that you have privacy but small enough that you are close to your room, the restaurants, the pool, the ocean. If you leave something in your room, you don't have to walk forever to go back. We loved the fact that if you want to eat at the fine dining restaurant and dress up, you can. And if you prefer casual and laid back there are plenty of options for that too. And all day and night you can get the BEST jerk chicken at the grill. We even got up one morning at 1:00 a.m. and got jerk chicken. There seems to be Plenty of activities for everyone at all times. We were undecided when making our reservations whether to go to Couples Swept Away or Couples Negril. We did the Trading Places one day with Swept Away and are so happy we chose Couples Negril. Swept Away just seemed too big for us. I'm sure it is nice too. But we were completey satisfied with our choice. The workers there made us feel at home too, everyone from groundskeepers, photographers, activities directors, bartenders...everyone!!! The live music shows at night were really good with very talented musicians. We had a great time at the piano bar each night. The beach party was over the top with an awesome spread of food. One of the highlights of our vacation was taking a tour of the Garden Island School (elementary). They were so appreciative of a few school supplies and a little candy. The principal was so eager to share what the Couples Resorts have done for their school. We just arranged a shuttle for the resort to drive us there and back. It cost $60 for up to 4 persons and we were there long enough to tour the entire building and grounds and talk a bit with the principal. It was really  good to spend our morning there and would highly encourage everyone to bring supplies or books for their new library (they don't have books for it yet). Even if you don't make the trip, the resort would see that they got it to them. Â
Third Time in Negril-First Time at Couples Negril05/30/2013

My wife and I celebrated our 35th anniversary at Couples Negril (not Couples Swept Away) from May 20-24, 2013. This was our third trip to Negril, twice before was at RIU. RIU started a kids stay free program, so we decided to try Couples. Also, RIU charged for the airport transfer, snorkel trip and catamaran cruise, so the extra cost for Couples Negril was about the same we would have paid if we stayed at RIU and paid for the extras. Iâm going to try not to compare Couples to RIU anymore. OK, we started out at the airport in Montego Bay. Couples has an airport reception area that was very nice. Free soft drinks and beer and we only waited for about ten minutes before the hour plus drive to Negril. The baggage guy wants a tip. Arrival at Couples Negril was fair. The check-in area is dated and small. All the buildings at Couples Negril are dated. Our room was not ready and they had no idea of when it would be ready. This is the slow season, so Iâm not sure why they didnât have any clean rooms. A very nice young lady gave us (three couples) our intro. It was pouring rain (rainy season? every day at 1PM for the remainder of the day) and we could not hear a word she was saying. After some questions, she told us the only place to get a drink or food was through the rain to another bar at the pool. We noticed a bar down stairs and low and behold, just down the steps was a full bar and dining area. Donât know what she was thinking. Two hours later our room was still not ready. After standing at the front desk, they said they upgraded us to a suite. The room and bathroom were huge #8307. We had paid for a deluxe beachfront room and this room overlooked the gardens with a nice view of the beach. Iâm not sure which rooms were deluxe beachfront. I think they all had a view of the beach in these blocks (6,7,8,9) but I am sure the garden view rooms(2,3,4) were buried back in the gardens with no view of the beach. These rooms were on the other side of the resort, too deep in the woods for me. Our room did have airport and road noise and each night at 6, the resort next door fired up a fogger to spray for bugs. We only saw a few bugs, no-seeums and our rooms had ants. They had a can of spray in the room, so each morning when we left for the beach, I sprayed the baseboards. The only beer they had was Red Stripe. The bars donât open until 10AM, so I ordered a six pack each night so I had a couple for the beach in the morning. They missed cleaning our room one day or it was 3 PM and they hadnât made it yet. Foodâ¦.was OK. The main dining area is outside, no A/C, you are supposed to wait to be seated (not sure for the reason when all the tables are empty) and youâll have to wait in line at the buffet in the morning. Cover your plate if you get up, there are birds that fly in and out and will eat off your plate. I think they didnât start serving until 7:30 am, sort of late for me. Coffee was excellent and available early am. Bring your own big cup for both coffee and beer/drinks. My other problem with the dining area was that it is dark. I accidentally ate a hot pepper the first night and a hunk of gristle the secondâ¦gag. One couple had a flashlight. There are two or three other places to eat. One is great during the day for lunchâ¦but expect to wait in line to order, take a number and wait some more. We didnât eat at the Asian restaurant or the one you had to make a reservation. They have room service, too. The beachâ¦excellent! Palm and other trees for shade, nice chairs, cushions that double for rafts in the perfect water and sand. Flags for drink service, volleyball and botchie ball. The nude beach is next door and everyone walks right by it when walking the beachâ¦itâs a little tacky, but itâs their thing. Hobie Cats, paddle boats, kayaks, paddle and sail boardsâ¦all free. The snorkel trip and catamaran cruise were both free and great. The cat cruise was really fun, the crew, going to the Caves, swimming through the caves and off the sliding board and dancing and drinkingâ¦great! The resort staff could have been better. I understand Jamaican laid back but I think some (most) had an attitude and just didnât care to help you. We always tip pretty well (they donât expect tipping), but it didnât make a difference. So, overall impressionâ¦if this was our first time in Negril, it would probably be great but since it was our third time and we had something to compare to, it was just OKâ¦I donât think weâll go back, itâs time to try someplace else.

Couples Negril was recommended by a friend that has visited the resort annually for the last seven years. I totally understand why they are frequent fliers to this destination. Â We had a large group of 12 that stayed at Couples Negril and everyone had a grand time. Â There was something to do for everyone no matter their interest. Â I will definitely be returning to this resort. Â The staff and accommodations were outstanding as was the food! Â No complaints!! Â Kudos to this wonderful place of relaxation!
